Photo Preservation | The perfect stuck-at-home project

April 20, 2020

One month in and we’re all starting to
wonder when this will all be over.

Homeschooling isn’t getting any easier and we’re all looking forward to uncomfortably long hugs with our friends again.

Here’s an idea for a meaningful at-home project that will be a great sharing experience with your kids and super beneficial for down the line when the pace of life picks up again.

Show of hands:

Do you take a bunch of photos when you’re on vacation, out on a hike, or just in daily life? Then you upload them to your computer, leave them on your phone, maybe post to social, and promptly forget about them?

Just me? My guess is probably not.

Although my client photos are beautifully organized, my personal photos are lumped into a mishmash folder and left to collect dust. So, with my extra time, I decided to take on the challenge of organizing and categorizing these images so that they are easy to find when I want them. An added bonus is that one day when I do have kids of my own, I will already have a great system to fall back on to keep their photos sorted. Whether or not they get printed is another story, but if they are at least sorted, there is a better chance!

Since my system for client images won’t work as well for my own, I found this website with ideas of where to begin the organization process.

Once they’re organized, then you can start to create photo books for each year or each child.

This is another project of mine since I have all of 5 photos printed of my boyfriend and I, 3 of them still live in the envelope they came in. Though I did make this awesome wall collage last fall to remember our trip to Hawaii. Gotta practice what you preach!

If you’re looking to print, I recommend mpix.com (a branch of my albums lab) or Artifact Uprising.

If you have the photos organized but don’t have the time or patience to design an album yourself, I offer album design services that can be done completely online!

Albums start at just $150 and come with 25 images included ($2/image after) and 1 round of revisions.

Images can be from your phone, camera, or even old print photo scans. Changes to the layout can be made with one short zoom call where I share my screen and you get to pick the layout you love best.

Photo preservation isn’t just for digital images.

If you have old photos at home or scans of old photos I can help you print them and even restore them if they have been damaged in any way.

Simply send scanned photos or a photo of a photo to have me fix:

  • Any image damage
    • Rips & tears
    • Spots & dust
  • Faded colors
  • Add color to old black and white photos

Restoration service is $75 per image with special pricing available for bulk orders if you have a collection.

If you have more printed photos than you can handle, send them to Legacy Box to digitize them for you. This is an amazing and well trusted service that is invested in helping you preserve your family history.

Let me help you preserve your family’s treasured memories for
future generations to enjoy.

Tell me what project I can help you with.
