San Francisco Proposal | Palace of the Fine Arts

April 17, 2017

When Brad and I were planning this portrait session/surprise proposal for his girlfriend, Catherine, we were worried about what the weather would do, but lucked out with some lovely sunshine and clear skies. However, you can’t escape the wind on the San Francisco coast. We made sure to get some fun photos with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, but then had to flee the beach for a warmer location. (Not pictured is the winter coat with fur hood she was wearing between shots, it was definitely needed that day.)

The Palace of the Fine Arts provided a wonderful shield from the elements and, through stealthy communication and coded wording, we picked the spot where Brad would pop the question. He not only planned to propose but also had a whole speech planned, in Spanish, not his first language. See, these two met at a convention in L.A. and have been doing long distance for 5 years since, between the US and Colombia. That is true commitment in my book. So for the big question he planned a speech in her native tongue to tell her how he felt. Watching as her face shifted from confused, to happy, and back to confused, it was especially exciting when he finally got down on one knee and you could see the surprise on her face as she put the pieces together. It was a perfect San Francisco afternoon, made even better by the chance to share in this special moment with a great couple.
